New Classes Starting April 14, 2009
Basic Knitting – for those who would like to learn to knit and/or polish up their skills. We will help you develop your knitting skills in the way that works best for you. You will learn the basic stitches and how to read knitting patterns. You will also learn many of the special techniques which are used in knitting patterns such as the different cast on and bind off methods and the increases and decreases used for shaping.

Tuesdays, Apr 14 - June 2, 6:30 – 9:00 pm -- $165 initial materials included
Wednesdays, Apr 15 - June 3, 1:00 – 3:30 pm -- $165 initial materials included
Norwegian Knitting – Expand your knitting skills! Have you ever admired hats, mittens and sweaters with colorful Norwegian designs? It is great fun to make your own in the color combinations you like best. Learn how to knit with 2 or more colors of yarn in the same row. Also learn how to read charts and calculate placement of the designs for balance in your projects and best of all how to make your garment fit! Finally learn how and why we block our projects to give them a great finished look. Start with a hat as your gauge swatch and move on to any project you wish to complete.

Thursdays, Apr 16 - June 4, 6:30 – 9:00 -- $150 materials extra
Felted Nordic Look Bags - Instructor Barb Rebik - Barb will teach you how to make a knitted bag with beautiful Norwegian Designs using 2 colors with the stranding technique. Then you will felt it for a thick sturdy tote bag. These bags use a heavy weight yarn on large needles for a quick project. Add pockets, buttons or clasps to make it your own.
Class Times: 2 weekly sessions -- Fee
Mondays, Apr 20 & 27, 6:30 – 9:00 -- $50 plus materials
Private Knitting Lessons for one or two: $20 per hour for one student, $30/hr for two. Time and topics to be arranged between students and teacher.
Registration deadline: April 8, 2009
Class policies
- All classes meet once a week for eight week unless otherwise stated.
- Registration must be paid in full on or before the deadline to reserve your space in a class.
- Only cancellations made before the registration deadline will receive a full refund of class fees. After deadline, 50% of the registration fees will be refunded. No refund will be issued after classes have begun.
- No partial refund will be issued for sessions not attended though you may make arrangements with the instructor to make up classes at a later time.
- We reserve the right to cancel any class. Students will be notified as soon as possible and we will make eveyr effort to reschedule classes.
- Yarn, needles and patterns will be available from Denise's Needleworks, our on-site store. Having appropriate materials is very important to the learning process. We can assist you in selecting yarn and tools which will give you a positive, successful class experience.
Our Instructors - Arnhild, Denise and Linda, all have years of experience knitting and teaching knitting classes. Their goal is to help you have a fun, relaxing learning experience.
All classes held at 2330 Lincoln Way in the basement of 1st National Bank. Parking on Lincoln Way -- use outside stairs or in the back (South side) off Chamberlin--enter South side of bank building and use stairs inside the building.
